Yamaha WR250

Sad news came for fans of the Yamaha WR250 platform in late 2020. The manufacturer announced that the 2020 model would be the last for the WR250R and the bike was to be discontinued. Some might say it was about time – the WR250 had remained practically unchanged mechanically since 2013.

We prefer to look at it differently, though. The WR250R and its street-aligned sibling WR250X stood as examples of the saying “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The street-legal WR250 motorcycles are right there at the top when it comes to performance that can easily go from street to off-roading when the pavement ends.

That goes for both the WR250R and the WR250X, because the only real difference between them is the suspension. The road-biased WR250X has stiffer forks and suspension, while the off-road-aligned WR250R has a softer suspension to suck up bumps on the trail. But really, both of them can perform well in either environment. They can rip through forest trails just as well as they can dash down the freeway at nearly 90 mph.

Of course, with a bike that can go wherever you please, you have to be prepared for everything. If you’re on mountain trails or rural backroads, street lighting is a luxury you won’t have. But with DENALI auxiliary motorcycle lights, you can bring comparable illumination to the most remote location you can imagine.

The DENALI D7 Driving Light Pods shine with the intensity of 15,000 lumens. They feature a proprietary single piece optic that focuses the lights into a bright spot beam that can light the trail ahead of you up to 1,500 feet. Complete your setup with some ditch lights – like the D4 or S4 Light Pods – so that nothing can sneak up on you from the side of the road.

Each of these lights comes with DENALI DataDim Technology, which lets you control their intensity with your original high beam switch. They’re easily mounted with our Articulating Bar Clamps that grip nice and tight onto any bar or tube. Forks, fenders, frame… You name it.

It’s also good to have a pair of spot lights that turn with your handlebar, and for that the D2 Light Pods are ideal. These pods are tiny giants – their beam can reach up to 525 feet, and they also include flood lenses. Oh, and they too come with DataDim. Just as a cherry on top.

For more passive visibility lighting, you can’t beat DENALI DRL Visibility Pods and the B6 Brake Light. These compact, low-profile lights can be mounted flush (or offset or on fenders, your choice) and their bight LEDs will make your Yamaha shine like a beacon.

Since the WR250R/X can take you on roads as well, you should have something to wake up a distracted driver. And that’s what the compact DENALI SoundBomb Horn is for. If its 120 decibels don’t get a driver’s attention, well, they probably shouldn’t be on the road to begin with.
