Harley-Davidson Road King
If what you want is a minimalist Harley touring bike—getting all the good bits of the Touring chassis but in a lighter, more simplistic package—then you want the Road King. Since the beginning, the stripped, “classic bagger” Road King has been a success, and you can see why. The straightforward classic windshield replaces the plastic fairings found on the Road Glide and Electra Glide, giving the RK a more regal appearance. But behind that, the Road King is pure touring Harley, with a 107-inch V-twin sporting the latest electronic technologies (carefully hidden, of course), a comfortable riding position, and integrated hard saddlebags perfect for a weekend tour or just to carry your lunchbox and laptop to the office.
For all its newness, the Road King’s lighting can be dramatically improved by DENALI LED motorcycle auxiliary lights. For starters, you can install the DENALI M7 DOT-approved headlamp replacement, an all-LED unit with approved high and low beams as well as a halo-style daytime running light (DRL) for even better conspicuity. Want more? Then add a pair of DENALI M4 LED Passing Lamp Modules into the standard H-D aux light housings. The M4 has a super bright passing beam as well as an LED halo to complement the M7’s design. You wouldn’t want your light to be unmatched, would you?
There are other options if that’s not enough light. Choose from the radically powerful D7, a pair of which packs 14 high-intensity CREE LEDs for almost as much brightness as the sun. (Okay, that’s an exaggeration.) A pair of D7s puts more than 15,000 lumens down the road, to help you see better at night and to be seen more effectively by others on the road, whether they’re in Buicks or wearing deer outfits.
Thanks to CAN bus technology, DENALI’s CANsmart works with the Road King all the way back to 2014. With CANsmart, you can control two sets of LED driving lights, a powerful SoundBomb horn, and a B6 tail light (either singly or in pairs) right from the Electra Glide’s stock hand controls. Features include flash-to-pass, flashing of the LED lights when you trigger the horn, and a feature than turns off the auxiliary motorcycle light on the same side as the active turnsignal, a feature useful to keep the blinker from getting swamped by the driving light. Not only that, CANsmart makes installation of DENALI’s LED motorcycle lights as easy as can be, with pre-wired DrySeal connectors and the ability to control the high-current demands of the SoundBomb horn directly, no need for an extra relay or wiring. Smooth, simple, and easy. Just like the Road King.
