Honda CB1100
Riders of a certain age think of Honda’s CB750 as the pinnacle of motorcycle development. Whirring smoothly from the smoky, oil-choked haze emitted by the two-stroke streetbikes of the late 1960s, the CB750 would prove to be urbane, comfortable, reliable, and—a surprise to everyone—fast. Riders who grew up knowing that any cross-state tour might involve roadside repairs were amazed to find the Honda CB750 would chug on, tank after tank of gas, with little more than a quick wipedown for bugs and checking tire pressure.
Honda’s truly modern CB1100 is not a CB750, but it’s trying really hard to capture the essential simplicity of the CB750 that enthusiasts with long memories and creaky knees remember so fondly. Yes, the CB1100’s engine is air-cooled, with four cylinders across the frame, riding in a steel tube frame with twin shocks out back. If you coaxed a boomer out of his afternoon nap and handed him a sheet of paper, this is the motorcycle he’d draw.
The Honda CB1100, like the CB750, is meant to be more than just a retro styling exercise, so you see them being ridden to work or school (hey, the youngsters can appreciate timeless style, too), passing you on the highway with a big duffel bag strapped to the back seat, or even on your favorite twisty road. As such, the CB1100 should have better lighting courtesy of DENALI.
There are several ways to improve your CB1100’s lighting for highway riding and daily commuting. DENALI’s fender mount kits, which can be adapted to fenders with either 5mm or 6mm screws, can hold the more compact DENALI LED motorcycle lights, from the super-light DM to the larger and even more powerful D2. Both the DM and D2 can be purchased with amber lenses, proven to be better for conspicuity in cluttered environments, and both the DM and D2 have user-changeable optical lenses. Choose the spot lens for long-distance lighting, the flood lens for improved conspicuity and a better spread of light near your Yamaha, or fit one of each for a True-Hybrid system. And let’s not forget that all DENALI LED driving lights come with impressively made and thoroughly complete wiring harnesses, and can be fitted with the exclusive DataDim module, which allows two levels of intensity without having to re-wire the whole system. DataDim is truly Plug&Play!
