Yamaha Tracer 900 and Tracer 900 GT
Not long after the “hyper naked” Yamaha FZ-09 debuted, a very slightly more grown up version appeared, dragging along sport-touring aspirations along with an undeniably sporty feel. Don’t sweat the name change: What started as the FJ-09 in America became the Tracer 900 for the 2019 model year as Yamaha brought its European and American product names into sync.
Take the rowdy three-cylinder engine from the FZ-09, plop it into a revised aluminum frame, and add a small frame-mounted fairing to get a lightweight Sport Tourer. Yamaha never meant the FJ-09 or the Tracer to rival the long-running FJR1300 for long-distance comfort, but the bike comes close. Standard ABS, traction control and ride modes just sweetened the deal.
What else is sweet? That the FJ-09 and Tracer’s versatility make it the right “one bike” for a lot of riders. Weekend sport riding is covered with plenty of power and good handling; commuting gets a boost from the bike’s smoothness and comfort; touring benefits from good range and available hard luggage. All of these endeavors also call out for better lighting than Yamaha gave the Tracer.
DENALI has plenty of options. A simple Driving Light Mount for the front fender can carry the more compact DENALI LED driving lights, including the DM, the D2, and the new S4. Another option is to clamp any of DENALI’s LED auxiliary lights for motorcycles to the Yamaha’s upper fork tubes with our exclusive Articulating Bar Mounts. Add even more conspicuity with DENALI’s DRL visibility kits, which can be mounted to the front fork or blended into the Tracer’s radiator fairing. Out back, add B6 high-intensity brake lights for a complete, front-to-rear package of lighting that lets you see and be seen.
The Tracer also supports DENALI’s SoundBomb horn. In fact, you could choose from any of the three: the SoundBomb, the SoundBomb Split (which separates the compressor and the acoustic unit), or the SoundBomb Mini, which is still way louder and more attention-getting than the stock Yamaha horn. Experienced riders know that staying safe on the road, whether touring across the country or just riding to work, is a matter of leveraging their safety assets. Let DENALI give you more of those assets to leverage.
