There’s little question that Suzuki’s V-Strom line has been successful for the company whose name was made from GSX-R supersports, but it may come as a surprise that the most successful of the line wasn’t the 1000 but the 650, often called (with great affection by its owners) the Wee Strom. What makes it so good is that it’s lighter than the 1000 and not all that far down on power—all good things for a serious middleweight adventure tourer—and the V-Strom 650 keeps the fun character it inherited from the SV650’s V-twin engine. (The SV was a fan favorite for its cheap, cheerful sense of fun.)
What has always made the V-Strom 650 great continues to this day. It got a stylistic revamp and equipment upgrade soon after the 1000 was reworked in 2014—the 2017 model looks like a just-smaller V-Strom 1000, though the actual chassis dimensions are nearly identical. Available now in regular-blend and the XT version, which include some luggage and extra adventure-oriented equipment.

DENALI realizes that mounting those lights is equally important. Owners of earlier V-Strom 650s benefit from bike-specific LED light mounts that fit the 2012-2016 models and provide a solid home on the main fairing for any of the DENALI lights. But there are also alternative mounts for that generation and the current bike as well, including Articulating Bar Clamp mounts that fit the upper fork tubes as well as any size crashbar, either stock, a Suzuki accessory, or other aftermarket.
